Why we don’t come back….

This has been a question I asked many Indians who come to USA and wont ever return. I never got a correct answer except, India is too polluted, lot of corruption, hell with traffic blah blah blah. But, I don’t think these are the answers. Now Living in US for 4 months, I have many answers to my own question. Lets see what are they.

Starting with, Money! Every one knows dollar is forty times bigger than rupee, and Who will not like money in the current generation.

Secondly, life style!! What does this mean?? Lets see..

I got my job two years back and the gift I gave myself was traveling from Banglore to my place in an AC Bus. First time in an AC bus, I felt on the top of the world. Its been an year and half since I got employed but I never boarded an airplane in India, Not even the Deccan Airways which gives out tickets at 1 rupee !! Now lets see same in US, As soon as I got in, I gifted my brother a Mp3 player costing around fourteen thousand rupees, My one months salary in India. I hardly completed two months, but I had my first flying experience in USA. Don’t tell me you flew from India to US which is supposed to be my first flight experience. I agree its my first flight but I never paid for it. I bought my first flight ticket in US not in India.Roaming around in Car is a luxury in India, Its compulsion in USA. See the change in the life style.

Thirdly, Life made easy. I was born in Proddatur, kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Currently typing this down in Indianapolis International Airport,Indiana, USA.I was born in a place which still doesn’t have a railway station. But today, I am typing down this while I am eating my dinner in one of the biggest airports in USA.I can even post this blog on to net before I take a sip of my coke. But in place I was born, may be it will take a few hours to do the same. I have traveled for the last three days to four different states, with a five dollar note in my pocket, I don’t need to carry currency here. Think It will take quite sometime to do the same in India. may be after another twenty years.

Well all these makes me prefer US to India, But why should I come back to India??

Simple, because money, cars and internet is not LIFE. Everything I have in US makes me into a Robot. Stuck in a routine, have no feelings, less emotionally inclined. I could hardly stay for three months with out going home, talking to my parents and spending time with them. But I have already finished four months in US and I don’t even think of it. Why?? Well I don’t know. I have become more practical, less attached to people. If I stay more than an year or two here, I will hardly be able to spell my street name in India. After an year, When I come back, I would be scared to ride my bike which I love very much riding. I think this is the real answer for the question, Why we never come back. We are scared, I am scared. Life is made easy in US. We may be reminded once in a while that we don’t belong here, but still we like our life here. If we return to India, we need to struggle for everything. Struggle to pay your taxes, struggle to get to work, struggle to pay your bills, Struggle to even use your own laptop in a restaurant, which I am doing right now.

Don’t ask me will you return to India or will you settle in USA. Because I have no answer at this moment. My destiny is taking me to all kinds of places, making me say hello to people of different countries, languages and different colours too. So lets see where else will my destiny take me and what else will it make me do!! If you define settling down as getting married, sorry I am not answering that J. Well I still have three hours of time to be killed before I ride back home. But nothing else at this moment to talk about. So chow!!  Let me know if you have a different answer to my question.
